The Pardoner`s Tale

From those 4 Canterbury Tales that we tackled which was written by Geoffrey Chaucer, the Father of English Literature. The one that I like the most is the Pardoner’s Tale.
The story of this tale is about the three flemish youngsters as it was describe by the pardoner in the tale who spend their time on satisfying the wants of their flesh. One day in a funeral knell, they were informed by the revelers` servants on what had happened to their friend. Because of their drunkenness they were forced to seek the person named Death who was the reason why there old friend died. As they seek the mysterious person named Death, they find an old man who was seeking also for the same person too .But the old man pointed them to the grove. As they go, they saw eight bushels of gold coins. Every one came up with an idea that they must not to carry the gold in the morning so that they will not be robbed. The youngest friend was unfortunately assigned to buy wine and bread. On the other hand, each one of them came up with an idea of keeping for themselves the gold coins. When the youngest friend came back to the place, he was killed by his two friends. As they celebrating for the success of their plan for killing the youngest friend, they are unaware that their lives is in danger, it is because the wine they were drinking is contaminated with a poison. Thus, they were all died.

I get interested in the story due to the moral lessons contained on it. At the start, the three drunken men are lazy so they do not receive blessings. They are spending time on filling the wants of their flesh which cannot be called joy but happiness. Another lesson is that, we must make every second, minutes worthy to the Lord. They are warned in the scene that there friend died. Warned in the way that they must fix their lives or they will be the same as their friend. I think this mysterious figure named Death is the old man. Why? I say so, because after the drunken men seen the gold coins under the oak tree there is no more communication with the old man. Or, they do not recognize it clearly because they are drunk. In the bible, it says, “The love of money is the root of evil." The drunken men actually has two options first is to share the gold coins equally and second is to be selfish with it. In this story, we are taught not to be selfish and not to covet neighbor’s house because in every sin that we do, there is a corresponding punishment for it. Thus, the sins of avarice can bring treachery and death.

My Boss,The Ultimate One

Most of the teenagers now a day are entice on movie personalities, politicians, philosophers and even fictional characters. Because of this, we have different explanations of our own heroes. A hero is the one who provides your needs, comforts you every time you think you`re alone and teaches and guides you on the correct path. Obviously, my hero is God. I choose Him to be my hero because He provides my needs like financial (tuition fees and daily money in school),physical(health and food) and my requests.

Another reason is that He comforts me every time I think that I`m alone. It is not hidden that I`m not a sociable person unlike right now. I learn to build friends, to share my thoughts and even handle a hard problem like the feeling of rejection by others. On the other hand, there`s a saying that, " You will not become a good leader, if you do not become a good follower." In continuation to the topic, He is my hero because He teaches me to follow His instruments (parents, teachers and elders) that will guide me on the correct path.

Once, it bothered me that why we have a hero? I find out that from all these characteristics that I mention we have a hero because they acquire our life which fills the things that we are irresponsible of. They are the one who may help us to achieve our wishes. They are used to give opportunities for the benefit of us in the future. I`m too young, has a long time to experience more hard problems. But I believe that just a blink of an eye everything will be fixed on a second. Because my Boss is the Ultimate One!
